Boss With Locs - Chloe x Halle Bailey

Boss With Locs Featuring Chloe x Halle Bailey

With a “If you don’t know, figure it out” mentality instilled in them by their parents, Chloe and Halle Bailey have worked their way from uploading renditions of hit songs in their room to becoming Beyonce’s protégés

“Music is definitely my outlet and we are all born with a gift and it’s your job to share it and inspire others” - Chloe Bailey

They were discovered after their cover of Pretty Hurts caught the attention of Beyonce’s team who immediately reached out to ask if they were signed. One month later, Chloe and Halle found themselves signed to Queen B’s label, Parkwood Entertainment.

Chloe and Halle share their journey and what it’s like working with Beyonce during an interview on P Diddy’s Revolt TV

But that wasn’t the first time meeting their mentor. Back when Chloe Bailey was 4 years old, she actually played the younger version of Beyonce in the Fighting Temptation music video, 10 years later, the sisters found themselves on the set of Lemonade.

Since then, the duo have performed in the White House for the Obama family, released their Grammy nominated album “The Kids Are Alright”, and joined Freeform’s hit series Grownish with Yara Shahidi and Luka Sabbat.

While from the outside looking in, it may seem like these young ladies benefited from an overnight success, but they put in the 10,000 hours and it paid off. The sisters began experimenting with music at ages 5 (Halle) and 7 (Chloe). They even auditioned for some acting roles before they were famous but were passed because they wouldn’t cut their locs for the role.

“I’m sure the girls probably didn’t get 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 roles just because of their hair,” says Doug, their father who recalls numerous requests for the sisters to straighten their hair.

As they enter 2020, the sisters have found themselves at a transitional point in their lives as they go from child stars to young adults, “We're not little kids anymore," Chloe shares in a Pop Sugar interview. Two years after their debut album “The Kids Are Alright” Chloe and Halle are entering the next phase of their life where their art will reflect the powerful, strong, and highly melanated women they aspire to be.

“I see define sisterhood as an eternal bond with your best friend” - Halle Bailey

While the sisters are closer than ever before, we will begin to see the pair in solo performances. Halle will begin production as she stars as Ariel in the live remake of The Little Mermaid. While Chloe is preparing to take a darker path with her new role in a horror movie with Russel Crowe.

Even though the sisters are embarking on different paths, their bond won’t allow them to stop working together. In an interview with The Breakfast Club, Chloe expressed their interest to write and produce for other artists. We will see them continue their roles on Grownish as Freeform recently announced the show will be renewed for a 4th season. They have also announced that they have an album, titled Ungodly Hour, on the way.

Thank you Chloe and Halle for showing us what it means to follow your passion and we can’t wait to experience your new album.
